Here's the finished product, dimly lit.

We have been working like crazy to get Paul's room ready.
We're pretty much finished and I like it a lot.

The room had a pretty faded, yellow wallpaper on the ceilings and walls that we removed.

It came down nicely in about 4 hours total. The only tough areas were where they put extra wallpaper paste around the edges and in the corners and curves.

The last guy to paper the room signed his name under this triangular area. Date, name and phone number. Fascinating.

So, here's the room once the ceiling
had one coat and the walls in blue.

I had to shore up the sheetrock on the ceiling in a number of areas with drywall screws, then spackle, light sand and two coats of Benjamin Moore AquaPearl latex.

Benjamin Moore, in my opinion, makes the best paint in the world. Having painted professionally for many years earlier in life (yes, I didn't always work with computers!) I feel qualified to make such a statement. If you need really great paint, this is the brand to buy. Also, it only sells at paint stores with very skilled sales folks to help you.

I love the wood paneling in this room.

These last three images are close in content, but each offers an element missing from the others. Can you spot it? Hint: think "light".

So, here's the finished room, specifically the area with the border paper detail. This will be the changing station. We have the Diaper Genie ready to go! The paper is from the John Lennon Collection from Carter. It will match all the other baby things.

Looking from the window, here's the view back. We decided the glider/rocker would be better in the sitting room next door, so Paul's room will remain nice and open. We added the dimmer and got unfinished wood outlet and switch plate covers that we painted with the same blue wall paint. I might actually get some Satin Impervo for those instead of the pearl finish. More durable and shiny.

So, here's the same image as at top. The cool thing is that one can see right into the crib from the driveway, so coming home I'll be able to see Paul right away! Also, it will be good for him to see outside when he wakes from naps. Lots of trees and birds and squirrels. Good for his little brain!

No, I won't leave tools in the baby's room! ;-)
We're really excited about having Paul, as you can see. We hope he likes his room.
