We headed out to the Shawangunk
area of southern New York State for a nice easy rail trail for Paul's first ride in the
bike seat. He doesn't like the helmet too much, but he got used to it and had a pretty
good time we think. |
| All too soon we had to stop for a bottle break. Hmm, that phrase's meaning is much different now. |
This baby bike seat is from Rhode Gear and |
| After the bottle, Paul checked out the grass. | |
The views of the Shawangunk ridge were spectacular. This is from a bridge along the trail. |
| So close to NYC, it's hard to believe there are farm scenes like this. | |
To the left of the tree you can just see the stone tower on Mohonk Mountain, home of the famous Mohonk Mountain House. If you ever get a chance to spend a Winter weekend there, don't miss it. Most rooms have a fireplace and the meals are fantastic. It's a great place to learn about Catskills retreats from the last century. |
| Paul brought his "Drive and Drool" keys. That's really the name of those things! | |
The trail was almost completely straight This was a great first ride. |
| At the end of the ride, Paul assumed his "crash" position. |
The bar is well padded, so I guess |
| So, our first ride was a success. Next year will see a lot more of this. | |
