Paul in his chair. Best $35 we ever spent.

The events of September 11th, 2001 forever changed my life. I was in Midtown Manhattan, about to leave for a client meeting when the first plane hit the North Tower of the WTC. The events that transpired during the next few weeks were tumultuous. About a month later most of the employees of the Nortel eBusiness group were informed that our positions had been eliminated. It was a tough month.

This section is a hodge-podge of simple, pleasant events that took place during this strange and troubling period. With Paul as our focus, we have always been able to come back to our roles as parents and get re-centered. He has been an unforeseen blessing in this and so many other ways.

Our fine neighbor, Jim Vallat, told us that we had a Plum tree growing on the property and that the plums were ripe! All the years Maria's family have lived in this house, nobody knew about this tree.

I rigged this frightening contraption (don't try this at home) and picked the plums.

Looking at this picture now, I don't know
why I didn't put the ladder facing down hill.
It would have been much safer.

The end result was about 3 times this amount. Not a bad haul. Jim actually made a delicious compote with the ones we gave him. I enjoyed eating them au naturale.

This is an interesting shot. The plums,
Maria's mother's picture, and me.

This was during a little hike we took behind Pyramid Mountain, about 15 minutes from our house.

Changing a baby on the trail is an art form.

We took my ultra-light stove and made lunch.

Here Paul is fed, changed and happy!

Toward the end of the month, we took a day trip down to the Great Swamp in Morris County, New Jersey. This place is striking.

Here are links to hiking and other information:

The sky was terrific that day.

I have some film shots that I will scan and put in here at some point, but for now this is it.

Lastly, Paul got his first shoes. Well, not really. I bought him a pair of Jets sneakers before we got him, but they were too small! Bummer.
So, with Summer ending and life taking strange new turns, we headed into Autumn to see what other wonders the new season would bring...
